Join Territorial Army PIB Selection Process & Exam Details
Selection normally runs in this order for this kind of Sarkari Naukri. The official notice has the final word, so check it for the exact rounds.
- Written Examination
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Medical Examination
Read the Syllabus First
A good plan starts from the syllabus: list the topics, note which carry more marks and give each a target date. Previous year papers will then show you how those topics are asked.
Recruitments like PIB usually go through Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Examination. The official notice gives the exact rounds and dates.

About the Join Territorial Army PIB Syllabus
If you are preparing for PIB, the first document you need is the official syllabus from Join Territorial Army. This page shows you how to read it and plan around it.
The official syllabus PDF is linked in the Important Links table of this page. Please read it once before you fill any form, because it is the only complete source.
Join Territorial Army PIB Exam Pattern and Syllabus at a Glance
The stages mentioned for this exam are: Written Examination → Physical Efficiency Test (PET) → Medical Examination. This is the usual order for an exam of this kind, so confirm it in the official notice.
The admit card is expected around 21 Sep 2022.
Treat the list below as a starting point; the official syllabus may add, remove or rename topics.
Subject-wise Preparation for PIB
These are the subject areas students usually prepare for in an exam of this kind.
- Language and comprehension: Reading and grammar at the level asked in the notice.
- Numerical ability and reasoning: Class 10 level mathematics and reasoning questions.
- General studies: History, geography, polity, science and current affairs.
- Subject paper: If the notice mentions a subject paper, give it the largest share of your time.
How to Turn the Official Syllabus into a Study Plan
- Download the latest syllabus PDF from the official link and save it on your phone
- Copy every topic into a notebook or a sheet, one line per topic, with a column for done, revised and tested
- Start with the topics that repeat in old papers, because they carry most of the marks
- Check the marking scheme, especially negative marking and sectional time limits, and practise with the same rules
- Re-read the syllabus every month; organisations sometimes revise it between two notices
A Weekly Study Plan for PIB
Keep the plan simple: new topics on weekdays, tests and revision on the weekend.
A simple pattern works for most students: study three hours of new topics, one hour of practice questions and half an hour of revision of the earlier day. Increase the time only when this feels easy.
Previous Year Papers and Mock Tests
Previous papers are the best free guide. Solve them in one sitting, then spend more time on the mistakes than on the score.
After every mock test, write down the questions you got wrong and the reason: concept gap, calculation slip or lack of time. The reason decides what you fix.
Common Mistakes While Preparing
- Collecting many books and finishing none. One standard book per subject and the previous papers are enough to begin
- Studying from an old syllabus. Check the year and the exam name on the PDF you use
- Leaving current affairs for the last month. Read a little every week
- Ignoring the exam pattern. Sectional time limits and negative marking change the way you attempt questions
- Watching lectures without practice questions

Study Tips for This Syllabus
- Use only the current-year syllabus; older ones may have dropped topics.
- Solve previous papers alongside each topic to see how questions are framed.
- Study current affairs regularly if the pattern includes a general awareness section.
- Cover the qualifying papers too; failing them ends the process.
- Practise the exam interface if the test is computer-based.
