About NTA NIFT: What This Admission Is

NTA has published the notice for NIFT. It is a admission notice, so the first thing to understand is how a student actually gets a seat.

Admission rules differ from one course to another, so the first job is to find out whether the seat is given on the basis of an entrance test, marks of the last exam or a counselling rank.

Who Should Apply for NIFT

The qualification shown for this notice is Graduate. Please compare it with your own marksheet, including the subjects and the minimum marks if the notice mentions them.

For General, OBC, EWS the fee is ₹2000, and for SC, ST, PwD it is ₹500. If you claim a fee concession, keep the category or disability certificate ready.

The form is filled online.

Read the conditions twice. One missing subject or a late date of passing can cancel an application after the fee is paid.

NTA NIFT Dates: How to Plan Your Time

The form opened on 16 Oct 2026 and closes on 16 Nov 2026.

19 days remain. Plan the form, the documents and the fee within the next two or three days and keep the rest as a buffer.

Exam date: 10 Jan 2027. Count back from this day and fix your own weekly targets.

The admit card is expected around 04 Jan 2026.

If a date changes, the change appears first on the official website. Check it once every few days till you finish the form.

What Happens After You Apply for NIFT

For a admission, the steps usually run in this order, though NTA may change or merge some of them.

  • Application and fee payment
  • Entrance test, if the notice has one, or evaluation of the marks of the qualifying exam
  • Merit or rank list and the call for counselling or interview
  • Document verification with original certificates
  • Payment of the admission fee and confirmation of the seat

Watch the official website and your registered mobile number. A missed message is the most common reason for a lost seat.

Mistakes That Cost Students an Admission

  • Applying through a website that only looks like the official one. Check the web address against the one in the notice.
  • Uploading a blurred photo or a signature in the wrong size, which the system may accept but the verifying officer will reject
  • Writing a name or date of birth in a different spelling from the certificates
  • Choosing a category without a valid certificate in the format asked for
  • Forgetting to download the final submitted form
  • Believing an agent who promises a seat for money. Government admissions never work that way

If something goes wrong, write to the helpline given in the notice and keep a copy of your message.

Getting Ready for the NIFT Exam

With roughly 11 weeks to go, fix a simple weekly plan: two days for the weaker subjects, two for the stronger ones, one for old papers and one for revision.

Solve the previous papers of the same exam under a timer. They show the real level and the way questions are asked. The syllabus and pattern are in the official notice linked on this page.

More NTA Admission Updates

See other updates of NTA on the NTA page, and all notices of this kind on the admission list. Seat allotment and merit list notices are posted here too, so you do not have to search many websites.

Documents You Should Keep Ready

  • Recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature
  • Class 10 / 12 marksheets and certificates as per the qualification needed
  • Graduation or professional degree / provisional certificate (if needed)
  • Category certificate (SC / ST / OBC / EWS) in the given format, if you claim a benefit
  • Photo ID proof and address proof (Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN, etc.)
  • Domicile / residence certificate if the post is reserved for state residents

This is a general checklist. The notification lists the exact documents, sizes and formats - follow it.
