About IITIK IIT JAM: What This Admission Is

The IIT JAM is the Joint Admission Test for Masters. Its score is used for M.Sc, joint M.Sc-PhD and similar programmes at the IITs and for several other institutes.

Who Should Apply for IIT JAM

The qualification shown for this notice is Engineering Degree. Please compare it with your own marksheet, including the subjects and the minimum marks if the notice mentions them.

The fee is ₹2000 for General, OBC, EWS and ₹1000 for SC, ST, PH, Female. Keep a working debit card, UPI or net banking ready, and never pay through any link that is not on the official website.

The form is filled online.

Read the conditions twice. One missing subject or a late date of passing can cancel an application after the fee is paid.

For a postgraduate admission, the steps usually run in this order, though IITIK may change or merge some of them.

• Merit or rank list and the call for counselling or interview
• Document verification with original certificates
• Payment of the admission fee and confirmation of the seat

Mistakes That Cost Students an Admission

• Entering the form on a copy site. The address in the notice is the only safe starting point.
• Uploading a blurred photo or a signature in the wrong size, which the system may accept but the verifying officer will reject
• Writing a name or date of birth in a different spelling from the certificates
• Choosing a category without a valid certificate in the format asked for
• Paying the fee twice after a slow payment page, without checking the first payment first
• Believing an agent who promises a seat for money. Government admissions never work that way

A calm email to the helpline with screenshots is better than posting on social media. Keep the reply for future reference.
